It's Back!! Neca has bought HeroClix and is selling Thor's Chariot at San Diego Comic-Con and on Amazon. Yes, this is real.

Posted today on HCrealms.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to clear a few things up. The next release is not the last release for HeroClix. UDE does not have license to produce HeroClix, the engine is owned by Topps and will transfer to the new buyer. HoT is not the last Marvel release.

I can't comment on the UDE deal b/c I don't know anything specific beyond what has been said.

As soon as management is ready to talk about the long term aspects of the line you'll be among the first to know about it. From what I've seen, you have nothing to worry about. In fact, I suspect most of you will be pretty happy.

Until then, keep the faith and don't let rumor and assumptions in comments spin their way into facts.

From HCRealms and Topps employee, Justin Ziran:

"Just a quick follow up to my earlier post. All in all, things are moving surprisingly fast given everything that needs to go into restarting a product line. We’ve made significant progress on the product dev front and are expecting our first samples from China within a week. A set of samples is also being sent to Marvel for approval and we expect they’ll be as impressed as we are (fingers crossed)."

yep, it looks like Topps may produce HeroClix themselves. They've set a goal of having Hammer of Thor out by GenCon. I hope they make it.

Great news. Here's what's been posted on the SaveHeroclix website:

Howdy folks,

I'm just popping in to share some more good news. I'm pretty beat, so I'll keep this short and sweet.

Updates:

1) We (Pinata) have reached a deal in principle with the new game company formed to purchase HeroClix. We're on-board and once their deal with Topps closes, we'll be back working fulltime on HeroClix. Whew!

The new company will staff up to support the transitioning brands, and Pinata will be one component of the new company's operations. We'll still be based out of Seattle, and we'll spend the vast majority of our time planning for and relaunching HeroClix.

2) Hammer of Thor will be the first product release post-relaunch. We're working with several vendors now to see how fast we can get it to market (without sacrificing any quality).

3) We're also working on a press release with the new game company that should help explain how things will work and will give you some of the details of the transition. Because we still don't have a final deal in place, I have to be a little mum on this until we're wrapped.

I hope to have more concrete news soon.

Goodnight!

It's been annoounced on the saveheroclix site that a newly formed gaming company is close to buying HeroClix, and that a formal announement should be made in two weeks.

Current news received is that Jake Theis and a group of former WizKids are trying to buy the HeroClix brand from Topps. More info can be found in Jake's thread on HCRealms.

Syfy Expands Comedy Block

My first thought of course is going to go to the grudge that I have against the channel’s name change.  I honestly do not understand why they couldn’t just leave it as SciFi.  It does make more sense.  But, there is nothing I can do about that. So, on to some more important things:  Syfy [...]

The Gold Exchange Q&A: Booster Gold #26 with Dan Jurgens and Geoff Johns

Since the day Booster Gold #7 was released and I wrote my first story for Comic Related, “The Gold Exchange” has been there every month, within a week (or so) of the release of a new issue of Booster Gold, without skipping a beat. We’ve talked to creator/writer/artist Dan Jurgens almost every month (excepting once [...]

Jeff Yorkes mashes up Batman

Talk about looking to the past for inspiration: Jeff Yorkes has created a great-looking mash-up between the Dark Knight and another era… …that of Mad Men. It’s definitely appropriate, considering Batman has another trip through time this week, in the ’30s pulp themed Batman/Doc Savage comic, which sparks DC’s new Firstwave line. What do you think? Could [...]

Spider-Man: Threat or Menace?

Gosh darn that Parker luck! The L.A. Times has reported that Ol’ Spidey has gotten himself into a little bit of a tangled web — with the LAPD. What happened? 39-year-old Spider-Man impersonator Christopher Loomis was arrested by police, after calls came in of Spider-Man assaulting someone at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. A cultural landmark known for costumed versions [...]
